Un cuento de verano, orginalmente llamado Sztuczki es el segundo largometraje del talentoso director polaco Andrzej Jakimowski. Esta vez nos muestra la mágica historia de un niño que busca engañar al destino para que su padre regrese a casa después de abandonar a su madre. Es tiempo de verano y Stefek pasa el día jugando con las palomas y observando a la gente que espera el tren en la estación del pueblo. Allí es donde encuentra a su padre, aunque nadie le cree. El niño trata de jugar con las circunstancias y alterar el destino de ese hombre para que vuelva con su madre.

Un cuento de verano es una alegre fábula sobre la inocente infancia y la fascinación el en despertar de la vida. Jakimowski plantea una pelicula que hay que ver con paciencia y con los ojos ingenuos de un niño atento a todo y buscando con mirada curiosa el porque de cada comportamiento y cada elemento de un momento concreto. Tratando de averiguar el porqué de la cosas que no parecen tener sentido. Es una sencilla historia realista sobre lo que pasa en nuestra vida. ¿Acaso podemos alterar nuestra suerte? ¿Jugar con el destino de lo que nos rodea?

Un cuento de verano ha participado en numerosos certámenes internacionales, logrando el Premio Label Europa Cinemas y la Linterna Mágica en la Mostra de Venecia.
