W Polsce moda na j.hiszpański trwa stosunkowo od niedawna. W j. polskim mamy nieliczne słówka pochodzące z j.hiszp. Są to np: moskitiera, pepitka, bandera, rumba, corrida, torreador, marihuana, aligator, embargo, kanion, czy sjesta. Szkoły otwierają nowe grupy nauki hiszpańskiego a polskie firmy nawiązują kontakty handlowe z Hiszpanią. Moda na hiszpańszczyznę najbardziej szerzy się w polskiej popkulturze i temu wątkowi poświęcę uwagę w moim króciutkim eseju. Wszystko się dzieje w telewizji. W różnego typu dziennikach coraz częściej słyszy się o Hiszpanii. Najczęściej są to informacje o tamtejszym rządzie, o terroryźmie i o sporcie. Tak jak i w hiszpańskich TV informacje o Polsce mają charakter wzmiankowy tak i o Hiszpanii są one powierzchowne. Nie pokazuje się drugiego dna. Głównie wspomina się Madryt i Barcelonę. Nie mówi się o hiszpańskiej polonii. Sprowadza się coraz więcej żywności z Półwyspu. No ale chyba moda na cokolwiek by to nie było wygląda właśnie w ten sposób.
